aimee

Hailing from Liphook, Hampshire, Aimée is a 15 year old professional singer/songwriter who has been performing regularly on the local music scene in Berkshire, Hampshire, Sussex and Surrey.

Currently recording an E.P. for release in 2011, Aimée is busy writing a whole raft of new material which she is currently trialing at local music evenings.

In June 2009, having qualified via audition through Regional Finals and then Area Finals at Princes Hall, Aldershot, Aimée performed in the National Finals of Live and Unsigned at Portsmouth Guildhall in front of judges, the late Malcolm Mclaren, Annie Nightingale (Radio 1), Dane Bowers and Martin O’Shea (Atomic Kitten’s Manager) and was judged to be in the top 5 in the country in her genre. Aimée was also judged to be winner in the under 18’s Singer/Songwriter category at Gigtime Media’s “Spotlight 4 Stars” show, staged at Jongleurs flagship club in Battersea, South London.

Aimée has a love for performing at festivals and in 2009/2010 has been booked to perform at Guilfest, WeyFest, Americana International, Basingstoke Live (headlining the Acoustic Stage), OnionFest, Madhurst, Lazy Bishops Festival, Farnham Maltings Festival and Culture in the Park.

As well as her regular shows on the local circuit, Aimée has made numerous radio appearances with BBC Surrey, Delta Radio, Brooklands FM, Radio Lion, Radio Wey and Radio Basingstoke.

A caller to Mark Carter's Breakfast Show on BBC Surrey likened Aimée's style to that of Kirsty MacColl, other audiences have mentioned Avril Lavigne, Suzanne Vega, Alanis Morissette and Michelle Branch.

"What a talent. At 15 years old, the youngest performer on the Guilfest Backline Live Acoustic Stage, Aimée performing alongside music legends 10CC and Mungo Jerry delivered a contrasting set of self-penned alongside some well known classic and contemporary tracks. Her vocal prowess and the lyrical content of her songs belies her tender age which alongside the experience and professionalism that she showed in her performance at GuilFest 2010 can only mean that she has a fantastic future ahead of her. Definitely an act to watch in 2011" - Trevor Rapson - Guilfest Acoustic Stage 2010

"She was a great guest and it was our pleasure, I hope she comes in again" - Joe Talbot - BBC Surrey

"I was not only impressed by her musical ability, but also her control of the audience" - Steve Bradford - Loxwood Beer and Music Festival

"...the lyrics were deep and the music cool" - Niky Vanhoeke - Musician

band with no name

It's not easy to choose the right band for your event. You've got to keep the kids happy as well as the grown-ups and you want something that's fun, upbeat and entertaining without being too much of a cliché. You want songs that everyone knows and can dance or sing along to, but at the same time you don't want to hear the same old songs done in the same old style. So what do you do?

Well fear not….for a fistful of dollars, The Band With No Name has the answer! We're a bunch of friends from London, Surrey and Sussex, all of whom have many years' experience on the live music scene. We first got together to blast out a set of popular covers at the Balcombe live music event in 2005, and such was the quality of feedback that we decided to put some polish on it and launch ourselves as a quality alternative to the same old "cookie cutter" party bands.

We put our own spin into some of the good old pop music standards that could otherwise be a bit cheesy. We also play some songs that you definitely won't have heard from a covers band before. We've got an Aussie singer, an award-winning gardener on bass and a mad scientist on lead guitar – we're definitely a bit different!

We're able to provide music and entertainment for your whole evening, including:

• Complete PA system and lighting to your requirements

• Up to two hours worth of live music

• Recorded music or DJ in between live sets.

A song list is available elsewhere on our page (it changes all the time though – we try to keep it up to date) together with our demo. For weddings, parties, anything - speak to us about all your requirements and we hope to see you soon!

The Band With No Name is looking for as much work as we can handle over summer.
Get in touch soon!

Adrian Brown – Drums
Matthew Flegg – Rhythm Guitar / Backing Vocals
Alex Bell – Bass / Backing Vocals
Claire Potter – Lead Vocal
Gareth Flegg – Lead Guitar
Will Rowsel – Saxophone / Backing Vocals (need to mic up sax)

the sanctions

The present line up of Throbbin Hood has been together for about 7 years although the core of the band has been going for about 20 years!! We have a policy of only playing music that is well known and fun, (the lyrics may change but the song is the same). Based on the variety of venues we have played, ranging from a one car domestic garage to the main ballroom of the Brighton Metropole Hotel via the many homes and estates of the rich and famous, I think our policy is working.
