About The Pre-School
Loxwood Pre-School opened in 1988 and offers sessional day care in an exceptionally caring, nurturing and secure environment for girls and boys from the ages of 2 to 5 years.
We have an amazing team of 6 teachers who are passionate about learning through play and giving children the foundations that they will need for the transition into the primary system.
At Loxwood Pre-School:
- We have a high ratio of adults to children
- We can take your child from 2 years, even if they're in nappies
- They can stay with us until they start school
- We offer excellent learning through play
- We follow the birth to three matters framework and the foundation stage curriculum
- Children get West Sussex County Council funding (the term after they are three)
- We have managed sessions from Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 12.00pm, Thursday 12.30pm to 3.00pm. Lunchclubs are held Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 12.00pm until 1.00pm. Children bring their own packed lunches and a healthy snack each day.
What the Beer and Music Festival means to the Pre-School
The Pre-School is a registered charity, which relies on charitable fundraising to exist. Over the last ten years our Pre-School has been transformed, largely due to the Loxwood Beer & Music Festival which has become a major part of the village and county calendar!
In 2008 money raised from the beer Festival went towards a £25,000 refit and refurbishment of our porta-cabin at the preschool site. We now have a waterproof building with effective heating and the perfect setting for all year round play!
Proceeds from this year's Festival will go into a complete overhaul of the outdoor area at the school. It will then match the fantastic indoor facilities that the children currently enjoy.
We want to:
- Increase our storage area
- Increase the area outside where children can play undercover
- Level out the site and resurface with soft tarmac
- Put in a permanent climbing frame
- Create an area for the children to use their bikes
- Improve outside learning resources
We also want to provide new technology such as:
- Laptop computers
- Digital cameras
- Projector screen and projector
- Audio equipment
With the help of the Beer Festival, we want to transform our site so that we have safe and inspirational outdoor play all year round!
